The eAwards, the NTT DATA Foundation's prestigious prize for technological entrepreneurship, is seeking high-impact technologies to enhance the quality of life and address environmental challenges. The "candidate project" for the 22nd edition embodies this identity. The call for entries, now in its 2nd edition in Romania, commenced on June 15 and has been extended until September 4th. The national winner will be announced on September 26. Detailed rules and applications can be found at:  https://globaleawards.com/romania.

This competition is organized in two phases: a national phase and an international phase. In the final phase brings together participants from various countries, including Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Romania.

The winner of the Romanian round will receive €10,000, gain access to a high-tech accelerator program, and have the opportunity to compete as the representative of their country in the international final of the Global eAwards. The grand finale will take place in Madrid in October 2023 during NTT DATA Innovation Week. The global winner will receive a non-refundable €100,000 to develop their project further.

NTT DATA Innovation Week is not solely beneficial for the first-place project but also for all the winning start-ups from the national phases. These start-ups will have access to a network of influential investors and industry experts, which could facilitate their market entry.

In the eAwards 2022, the Romanian winner was Manuscrito, an app that teaches kids handwriting in a fun and interactive way. Their goal is to improve the process of learning to handwrite with the help of technology, mainly with the use of Artificial Intelligence. The global winner, chosen from a pool of over 2,000 entries, was KOA Biotech from Spain. Their technology aims to decrease mortality caused by infections in fish farms.

NTT DATA strongly believes in fostering innovation and provides support through its Open Innovation track, where companies and start-ups collaborate to develop innovative ideas and products. Furthermore, NTT DATA Discovery offers another avenue for collaboration with start-ups, serving as a privileged entry point into the world of start-ups created by NTT DATA.
