NTT DATA Romania, a major player in the national IT market and a member of the Japanese group NTT DATA, continues to grow every year. The company reported a turnover of EUR 86 million for the 2021 financial year, a 15% increase on the previous year. Although 2021 was marked by organisational changes and investments, NTT DATA Romania followed an upward trend, concluding yet another year of sustained growth by developing partnerships both in Romania and worldwide.
“Given the unpredictability of the current geopolitical and economic landscape, we are working on the assumption that 2022 will be a successful year for our company. The strategy we set out one year ago is aimed at ensuring more streamlined and automated processes, and also more specialised teams. We employed an ‘inside-out’ approach focused on encouraging a culture of cooperation, autonomy and empowerment, which is bound to improve the quality of organisational life”, said Maria Metz, CEO NTT DATA Romania.
For NTT DATA Romania, 2021 was also the year of integration into the newly established operational company for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America (NTT DATA EMEAL). NTT DATA EMEAL has a turnover of EUR 3 billion and over 46,000 employees across 25 countries. NTT DATA EMEAL registered a growth rate twice as high as the market average, with significant increases in its market share in both Europe and Latin America.
Integration into NTT DATA EMEAL is a key step for NTT DATA Romania in achieving its goal to provide its colleagues, its customers and the communities in which it operates with better services under a single brand. Thus, the company’s partners will receive end-to-end services which include business consultancy, industrial solutions, digital and IT modernisation, management services for business processes, and edge-to-cloud solutions. For people within the company, this integration will bring about opportunities for career development at an international level, as they will gain access to attractive projects, new technologies and chances to work in a culturally diverse environment. The relevance NTT DATA Romania enjoys as a group includes the establishment of a hub comprising dedicated teams for multinational projects, which will provide services to European customers. The company has initiated the creation of multi-regional service delivery centres specialised in different industries (Centres of Excellence).
Locally, with a view to support its ambitious goals, the company has launched large-scale projects, with investments amounting to EUR 5 million aimed at improving the quality of organisational life and at supporting business plans. These projects were driven by an organisational diagnosis that defined the company’s subsequent actions: investments in workspaces in Brașov, Sibiu and Novi Sad, the establishment of a coaching school aimed at assisting management activities, investments in the development of skills for specialist teams, the creation of multidisciplinary teams, and infrastructure modernisation.
The IDEA project (Innovate, Discover, Evolve, Apply) was launched last year and is aimed at improving the level of knowledge and skills for the teams that are part of NTT DATA Romania by running professional training programmes and providing assessments and certifications for advanced professional skills in IT.
Through the PEX project (Practicing Excellence), carried out in partnership with 7 universities nationwide, over 260 students were offered the opportunity to gain practical experience, thus facilitating their future integration into the field in which they seek excellence.
Investment efforts allowed the company to gain top clients and launch projects in new areas, such as Banking (SAP Transactional Banking), Utilities (SAP I-SU) or Energy (SalesForce Velocity). Innovation remains a priority, and for NTT DATA Romania, access to the latest technologies and solutions developed throughout the group, which can be customised to meet the needs of local markets, is a potential key driver for the expansion of its portfolio.
One of the business accelerators considered for the years to come is Cybersecurity. For this purpose, investments made in the development of dedicated infrastructure and team specialisation resulted in the signing of long-term contracts amounting to over EUR 5 million, including premium services, such as Managed Security Services.
Significant investments have also been made in the company’s own portfolio of products; for instance, the application suite designed for company business management, Clarvision Business Suite, was expanded by the addition of a module for manufacturing execution (Manufacturing Execution System).
Maria Metz, CEO of NTT DATA Romania, expects the company to experience growth supported by an array of digital transformation projects through which it assists its customers by providing consultancy, services and solutions that add value and efficiency to their businesses. The company has allocated EUR 6 million to investments in team growth and development through training and certifications, in the infrastructure needed for the new solutions added to the portfolio, in the new industries in which it operates, and, last but not least, in community-focused activities.
NTT DATA, part of the NTT Group, is a global innovator in IT services, operating in over 50 countries and headquartered in Tokyo. The company assists its customers in the digital transformation of their businesses through consultancy, industry solutions, business process services and the digitalisation of IT services.
