CLUJ NAPOCA - 07 March 2024 - NTT DATA Romania, a global digital business and IT services leader, is pleased to announce a relevant milestone in the ClujID PoC (Proof of Concept). The initiative, which is currently in beta phase, has progressed into an intense testing phase, propelling the project further towards its goal of improving public services for the local residents.
ClujID, available in Google Store, is a digital tool crafted to facilitate citizen interaction with the local government, ultimately aiming to phase out the necessity for in-person visits.
Started last year in 2023, the ClujID PoC, supported by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and executed in collaboration with QUNIE CORPORATION, has been at the forefront of adopting cutting-edge technology to create a reliable and secure digital identity for Cluj-Napoca citizens. By testing and validating the prototype in real-life conditions, NTT DATA Romania aims to contribute to the #NewEuropeanInnovationAgenda.
One of the standout features of ClujID is its Privacy Preserving Biometric Authentication, aligning with GDPR rules and national and European digital identity strategies. This approach ensures user-specific data is stored securely in encrypted databases, with users having exclusive access through biometric authentication, a robust security protocol. The account creation process is further facilitated by authenticating citizens' identification data using biometric technology.
This digital identity ecosystem is designed to enhance citizens' lives, by eliminating redundant certification processes, reducing the need for physical visits to public services, and contributing to the city's transition towards a green and digital future. The ClujID PoC aligns seamlessly with Cluj-Napoca City Hall's broader mission of local digital transformation, integrating inter-institutional databases and focusing on innovation, cooperation, and data protection.
